The Costume Designer

Two great things we know about Bendigo are the magnificent buildings that were built during it's fortunes made from gold, and of course the Annual Sheep and Wool Show in winter, but did you know it is also home to the brilliant Bendigo Art Gallery?  Many a fantastic exhibition have travelled through here and at the moment it is The Costume Designer - an exhibition that follows Edith Head's career as Head designer at both Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios. Included are her Academy Award winning designs and many other costumes rarely seen outside the US or on public display.  This exhibition has been curated by the Gallery working closely with a team from Paramount Pictures Archives.  It finishes on 21st January...then it will be gone - not to be shown anywhere else!

The Costume Designer is terrific for those who love the history of fashion and beautiful fabrics and the colour and movement of Hollywood.

Please join me on an overnight trip to Bendigo on Sunday 14th January, returning to Melbourne on Monday 15th January.   We'll be given an introduction to the exhibition by one of the experts at the Gallery and then can ramble our way through taking time to truly enjoy this feast for the eyes.  Then it's time for lunch: that's the other thing about Bendigo - they have access to excellent locally sourced produce and are very proud of it!! We'll amuse ourselves for the day and after spending the evening in Bendigo, we'll return to Melbourne the next day.

Bring a friend or meet some new ones.
